Policy Goal:
Provide entrepreneurship training to eligible individuals through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program.

Issue:
Currently the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Board for Athens County does not fund microenterprise/entrepreneurship training, even though funds are available to them to do this.   We would like WIA Boards to adopt new policy or expand their current policy to include funding for this kind of training.

Goal:
To create jobs and alleviate poverty through microenterprise/entrepreneurship.   In workforce development efforts, we want entrepreneurship to be seen as a viable job-creation and poverty-alleviation strategy.   We want our entrepreneurship curriculum to be available to unemployed and underemployed individuals or anybody interested in becoming self-employed.
