Worker Co-Ops: An Innovative Strategy for Retaining & Building Local Business Ownership

MarchMar 27 2019 09:00am - 03:30pm UTC

Did you know that 26,000 businesses, employing more than 300,000 people in Kentucky are owned by baby boomers? Many have no succession plan and could be at risk of closing.

Did you know that transitioning to a worker cooperative or other form of employee ownership could keep these businesses thriving and locally-owned?

Come learn about this critical challenge facing our communities and some innovative strategies for retaining local business ownership. Presented by Project Equity, the workshop will explore worker cooperatives and other employee-owned models, as well as best practices in helping businesses transition to employee ownership.

This workshop will be held Wed, March 27, from 9am-3:30pm at the Perry County Public Library, 289 Black Gold Blvd, Hazard, KY 41701. The event is free and lunch is provided.

This training will be offered again in Morehead on Tuesday, April 30 (register here).
